Hannah & Jake

This wedding was especially touching for me to capture… I’ve known the bride and her family for about 20 years or so through Kirkridge Church in Manchester, MD. Our home church. This is also where my husband and I met over 20 years ago as well. Hannah is so much like her mom, from what I remember of Sissy… And they both have smiles that absolutely light up a room… Hannah’s gorgeous dark eyes and her dark as midnight curly locks… she is just stunning! It’s amazing how we’ve all grown up and gotten married… It seems like yesterday that we were all in Vacation Bible School and running through the sprinkler at the church picnics… Hannah’s mother, Sissy Miller, passed away in July of 2011. But she was still there with us. I could picture her smiling as Hannah went through each moment of this day. Her wedding day. So proud and overjoyed for her beautiful daughter… Jake and Hannah met on a Youth Retreat and were partnered up together. A couple of years later, Jake had his family set up a picnic blanket in a wooded area with 10 dozen roses, candles lit, and a beautiful box. She went to open the box to find nothing inside. When she turned around, he was on one knee with her mother’s diamond ring. So special….. So sweet…. So perfect.

The weather was calling for showers as I left my house to head down to the maid of honor’s house where the girls were getting ready. I was praying that it would hold off! But it sure was breezy… Luckily the dress didn’t blow away while I was shooting on their porch! Kaila, the maid of honor and Hannah’s best friend (and a close friend of my brother’s too!) – does hair and makeup! And she does a fabulous job, I might add. She did hair and makeup for all of the girls…

How about this little peanut, Eva?? She was just LOVING having her picture taken… So adorable. Hannah used to babysit her and she was just such a doll all morning… Watching the girls get ready and being so good… I’m not sure flower girls get any cuter than this!
The garden out front was perfect for photographing this GORGEOUS bride… Her dress fit her perfectly, and her hair… Stunning! Hannah made her bouquet, too… It had a sparkling sequin sunflower in the front… So fun! Such cute girls!

The rain started just after we finished these shots… On the two-minute ride to the church, it started. Coming. Down. HARD….. I arrived at Kirkridge as the guys were buttoning their suit jackets and getting ready. They were in the library which my dad actually built the shelving for, and my mom stenciled and painted years ago. Jake looked so handsome and excited to finally see his bride… The ceremony was to be in the field under the arbor that Jake and Hannah designed, and Jake and his father and brothers built for the wedding! We were all waiting to see if the rain would let up… I know the feeling! It rained like this on our wedding day, too… The decision was made to move the ceremony under the pavilion where the reception was to be held. It worked out perfectly! The guys moved the tables back and the chairs up from the field under the pavilion, and twinkle lights had been hung from the ceiling which gave such a magical glow! Sanglui (another church friend!) began to play piano for everyone while we waited for the girls to be driven down from the church… Such a sweet ceremony… Hannah I see so much of your mother in you! Look at the freshness and pure happiness in her eyes, and the pure tenderness in his, as they say their vows…

Another one of our church friends, Sara Norris, bakes! And she owns “As Baked by Sara“. These cupcakes were absolutely amazing… The pumpkin spice was my favorite… She did such a great job! Look at these!

The rain made it so cozy and warm feeling… It was neat to be outside, hear the beautiful sound of rainfall, under the pretty lights, celebrating these two… It had such a romantic glow… I love how after their dance, Hannah dries her daddy’s tears… His little girl……. I had such a great day with these families… I’m so excited for Hannah and Jake to continue their lives together! There are so many blessings in store for them! Thank you both for including me in your wedding day… Lots of love to you both!
